Breaking Down The Excuses

Let’s cut to the chase: If you’ve been feeling stuck, frustrated, or like you’re not making the progress you want, I have to ask—what excuses are you making?

I say this with so much love, because we all do it (been there, done that,, got the t-shirt). Excuses keep us in our comfort zones. They make us feel safe, even when we’re stuck. But they also keep us from the results we know we’re capable of.

In today’s episode, I’m breaking down the 4 most common excuses I hear (and have used myself) and how they’re holding you back. Let’s dive in here too, because it’s time to call yourself out and start moving forward:

Excuse #1: “I don’t have time.”

This is the #1 excuse I hear—and it’s the easiest to challenge.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day. The difference isn’t in how much time you have, but in how you’re using it. If you’ve been saying, “I don’t have time,” take a hard look at how you’re spending your day:

  • Are you scrolling on your phone for hours or bingeing tv?
  • Are you saying yes to things that don’t align with your goals?

The truth is, time isn’t the problem—it’s priorities. Start small. Block out 15 minutes a day to focus on your goals. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing—it just has to be something.

Excuse #2: “I’ll start on Monday.”

Sound familiar?

This excuse keeps you in a cycle of procrastination. You wait for the “perfect time” to start, but spoiler alert: the perfect time doesn’t exist. Life is always going to be busy, messy, and unpredictable.

Instead of waiting for Monday, start now. Start messy, start small, start imperfectly. Progress doesn’t come from waiting—it comes from taking action, no matter how small.

Excuse #3: “I’ll never be able to stick to it.”

This excuse is rooted in fear—fear of failure, fear of letting yourself down again.

But here’s what I want you to know: Sticking to something isn’t about willpower or being perfect. It’s about building habits that work for you. If you’ve tried before and felt like you couldn’t stick to it, maybe the approach wasn’t right.

Here’s the secret: Focus on consistency over perfection. Start with one small, realistic change and build from there. When you stop trying to do it all at once, it becomes a lot easier to stick to.

Excuse #4: “I don’t know where to start.”

Starting can feel overwhelming, especially when you don’t have a clear plan. But here’s the thing: You don’t need to have it all figured out to take the first step.

Start with one thing. Just one. Whether it’s drinking more water, moving your body for 10 minutes a day, or setting a boundary, the key is to start small and build momentum. And if you’re feeling lost, find a resource or a community to guide you (and yes, I’ve got you covered—more on that below).

So, What’s Next?

If one of these excuses has been keeping you stuck, consider this your wake-up call. The only thing standing between you and the life you want is action. And you don’t have to do it alone—I’m here to help you every step of the way.

That’s why I created the 8-Week Hot & Aligned Program inside the Balanced Babe Academy+. This program gives you the tools, support, and step-by-step process you need to ditch the excuses, start small, and stick with it.

Here’s your challenge for today:
Take 5 minutes to reflect:

  • Which excuse has been holding you back the most?
  • What’s one small action you can take today to start moving forward?

💋I’d love to hear from you—hit reply and let me know which one resonates with you or if you have a different one.
